Hanging by a Thread - Sophie Littlefield Read full Review at Bewitched Bookworms Clare – unique gift, unique personalityFrom all the aspects of this book, Clare’s personality stood out the most. I loved her clothing style, assemblies of vintage clothing with self-made adjustments. I could picture her perfect in my head! Then, there is Clare unique ability to see people’s past when touching their clothes…. Interesting gift for a girl who loves vintage clothes… However, her mom doesn’t want to know about this gift, so Clare cannot truly talk to her about this. The only one in her life is her grandma who has the same gift. Once you meet Clare’s grandma you immediately know where Clare’s unique personality came from!Clare was eccentric, but a lovely girl with a good heart! I loved that about her, and she was easily my most favorite part about this book! Throw in a mysterious Boy and a Mystery To solve…..and you have the plot! The mystery was intriguing, however it didn’t kept me completely entertained. Sure, I desperately wanted to know more about the murders and if and how Clare could help solving the mystery. But, I wasn't completely compelled by the story to be honest. Then, there was Jake - the mysterious boy next door about whom her best friend warned Clare about. But it wouldn't be Clare if she would listen! Sadly, the romance part was missing out a lot of its potential as it rather felt like a friendship than a real moment. What I loved was that Clare trusted Jake enough to tell him her secret! This is always something I complain about in YA novels, that they never tell anyone when they have a secret! It drives me nuts!! So I was pleasantly surprised when she decided to share her ability with Jake.
